NWA Captain (Ret) Harvey “Ken” Hawkins brings more than 40 years of airline operational experience and more than 25 years of aviation management experience to Avatar’s doors.  Captain Hawkins is the Recipient of the FAA Wright Brothers “Master Pilot” Award in recognition of 50 years of Aviation Safety. His aviation accomplishments include organization and certification of two FAA Part 135 Certificates for Business Air Charter & WNC Air Service.  Captain Hawkins logged in excess of 35,000 accident free flight hours in domestic US and international service to three continents for Northwest Orient Airlines flying the B747-400, B747, B727, DC-10 and B707.  He served as Director of Operations for three Part 135 certified air taxis and specialized in reorganizing distressed Air Taxi companies.   Hawkins has founded and directed six aviation companies including an Air Taxi, Warbird Importation, Fixed Base Operator (FBO), Warbird Aviation Museum, Aircraft Management and Pilot Services and Flight Training Companies.   

Hawkins also founded and managed the International Aviation College in Nigeria and led as CEO from planning stage through enrollment of its first class of students.  He is also a veteran FAA Certified Flight and Ground Instructor instructing US Airways pilots in the B737, B757, B767 and Embraer E 190 aircraft and Flight Instructor in the USAF and US Army Flight Indoctrination Program(FIP) at Texas A&M University.  Hawkins is a graduate of the Aviation Administration degree program at Utah Valley University and a certified Airport Security Coordinator (ASC).

Hawkins has led the Flight Operations Department at Avatar Airlines for nearly a year during which time he has organized and staffed the Department with airline veterans.  He has also organized and directed the FAA Certification program for Avatar.
